Boston, Mass-based band American Ocelot recently unveiling not one, but two harmonic new singles. The lead single is titled “Dropped” and companion track, “Invisible Lines,” take on an upbeat new wave and post-punk sheen that recalls the propulsive guitar-driven alt-rock and urgent power-pop of the ’80s, all filtered through the foursome’s playful modern indie rock lens. Both tracks were recorded with David Minehan at Woolly Mammoth Studio in Waltham.
Band member Joanie Lynch shared the following about the duo of tunes:
“American Ocelot brings the songs to life; the only thing I can tell you for certain is that everything I write has an ‘80s inspiration’ song or hook. Sometimes I add Easter Eggs by lifting small sections of ‘80s tunes and dropping them in randomly. You have to be really listening to find them. There isn’t really a premeditated sound.”
