Beth Seymour & The Lizzies are Haunted by Old Ghosts on New Single “My Mother’s Face”

Naarm/Melbourne-based transgender artist Beth Seymour has returned with her first single for 2026, “My Mother’s Face.” Supported by her band, The Lizzies, Beth throws hands with her demons as she comes face to face with the ghosts of her past in a way you would never expect.

Beth shared the following about the new single:

“When you transition, you have this dream that hormone replacement will make you look like a supermodel. But, in reality, you just start to look like your own mother or sister. I haven’t seen my mother since I came out as trans, so it was hard looking in the mirror and seeing my face starting to turn into hers. It brought up all the complicated emotions and history that comes with seeing her in myself.”

To reflect her conflicted emotions, the song transforms from a soft, reflective opening into a fierce blast of punk fury all in under three minutes. Supported on record for the first time by the current Lizzies lineup of Sylvie Kirkpatrick (bass) and Ty Noble (drums), the band perform with a tightness and ferocity that sounds like they’ve been together 10 years rather than just one. The track culminates in Beth declaring “this is my body, this is my face”, taking full ownership of who she has become.

“My Mother’s Face” is a Beth Seymour production; written, recorded and mixed at her home in Ferntree Gully, Victoria. Drums were recorded by Dean Tellefson at Wrangler Studios and mastering by Jesse Cannon at Cannon Found Soundation.
