We’re premiering a brand new single from Bristler. The indie-alternative band will be releasing their debut album, Cascades at Play, on March 8th. Singer/guitarist Rudy Meier originally had written these songs for his previous band, Wetbrain. But, as with so many things in this day and age, the band never made it to recording their full-length due to COVID. It would be several years before Meier would find his way back around to these recordings with a renewed energy, but they eventually were reworked and reformed for his new band, Bristler.
Almost entirely recorded and produced by Meier in his bedroom, Cascades at Play presents a series of expansive soundscapes across eight tracks. Largely eschewing traditional song structures, the music is melodically deft and abundantly catchy but not in the way one might expect. Oftentimes, the beauty of Meier’s layered guitar work or the impact of a meticulous groove can be as sticky as any chorus.
