Kendra Sheetz Boston, Mass and Phoenix, AZ-based band Canyons and Locusts has released a blistering new single entitled “To Art Bell.” The song is dedicated to the late radio host and raises a glass to simpler times.
Clocking in at an economical 134 seconds, “To Art Bell” is a melodic statement of musical thunder featured on the band’s forthcoming 2024 EP, The Red Angel.
Band member Justin Keane had the following to say about the release:
“Somewhere in the late ’90s when we were all scared of Y2K and the end of the world and there was just that energy — especially in NYC where Amy and I both lived at the time — I discovered Art Bell’s show and would usually listen to that late at night and into the early AM. It was this glorious mishmash of chupacabra and Bigfoot and reverse speech and exorcism and not anything like what we think of as ‘conspiracy theory’ today.”
