Kansas City, MO’s Canyons has released an amazing cover of a Rage Against the Machine classic, “Bulls on Parade.” All proceeds from the purchase of the single will be donated to The Steps of Faith Foundation in KC, which assists uninsured amputees in acquiring properly fitting prostetics. The single was mixed and mastered by Chris Common (These Arms Are Snakes, Le Butcherettes) who donated his time for the project.
Canyons is Bobby Johnson and Morgan “Punch” Mabrey with a rotating mix of friends and collaborators over the years. Canyons vocalist and The Ghost Is Clear Records (Nerver, Rid of Me, etc.) figurehead Johnson says:
“The band was messing around one night searching for a nu-metal song to play and RATM’s ‘Bulls On Parade’ came up on a phone search. We all agreed it wasn’t a nu-metal track, but figured we’d give it a shot. When the opportunity came up to have it mixed and mastered by Chris Common and release it to benefit an incredible KCMO-based charity, we jumped at the chance.”
The cover comes on the heels of Canyons’ release of a six-song collection of Clutch covers last week, and sees release alongside a four-way-split with Great Falls, Dug, and Don’t Grow Old, titled Stranded, via The Ghost Is Clear Records/Learning Curve Records also out today.
