Kendra Sheetz Math-doused NYC emo duo Chort has announced themselves with their debut single, “Arrives.” The song will be featured on the band’s upcoming EP, Visits, which will be released on May 10th. Each track is built on spontaneous guitar and drums jams between the two friends, captured live in band member Ilan Bemaman’s basement studio, and subsequently layered with new sounds. At its heart, Visits is a tribute to finding peace in the face of adversity.
Guitarist/Vocalist Zach Fischer discusses the debut single:
“’Arrives’ is about a party guest who never actually arrives to the garden party, but walks right by the group and heads straight home. There’s a feeling that something’s right over your shoulder, even in the bright spring afternoon, the feeling of being unwelcome at a party you’ve been invited to, that everyone’s partying on borrowed time anyway. Patterns of Alienation, Milan Kudera, and self compassion.”
