Cold Expectations Releases New Single “Waiting for the Pills to Take Effect”

The idea of a daily pill regimen can mean different things to different people depending on their age. For the young, it can mark an exciting escape from reality, a chemically-induced freedom from life’s boring grip and the ability to unlock emotions otherwise unavailable. For those who are older, it’s a lifeline in the opposite direction, a routine plunge to stay attached to what’s around us, and hell, sometimes a necessity simply to keep from shuffling off this mortal coil.

That range is on full display, with perhaps a heavier dose of the latter, in Cold Expectations’ blustery new single. The song, entitled “Waiting for the Pills to Take Effect,” is the first blast of new music released by the Boston trio this year.

The band shared the following abut the new song:

“‘Pills’ is a conflux of emotions that comes from a desperate place in search of a hopeful outcome. At its core, it’s a masterclass in irony, exploring how a song’s meaning evolves. Waiting for pills to take effect means one thing to a young punk; it means something entirely different further down the road when you genuinely need them to work.”
