Kendra Sheetz We’re premiering a brand new single from Buffalo, NY-based quartet Elemantra. The band formed as childhood best friends and weaves together ’90s emo and indie rock. The new song it titled “Ishimura” and will be featured on the band’s upcoming 6 song album, Air Like a Buzzsaw. The new EP will be released via Friend Club Records out of Grand Island, NY.
Air Like a Buzzsaw was recorded by Justin Woodmancy at Vibe Lab Studios in Buffalo, NY along with Rafi Bloomberg at Bloomberg Audio in Grand Island, NY. It was mixed by Tom Draper and mastered by Mike Fridmann. The full 6 song EP will be released via physical cassette and CD tomorrow, October 9th. “Ishimura” is the 4th single to be released off the EP and the new album will only be digitally released once all singles are out.
Vocalist and Guitarist Justin Woodmancy shared the following about “Ishimura”:
““Ishimura” began as a rumination on the events of my favorite survival horror game Dead Space. While writing, the parallels to our world came alive. Just like in the game, people will willingly ignore all red flags, following with blind faith to their own demise – whether through religion, their job, or cults of personality. We may not be surrounded by murderous, hivemind controlled aliens reanimating the dead, but look around and you’ll see what’s there – dismal, frightened people who fear and hate what they don’t understand. The song’s glum and surreal atmosphere amplifies the descent and subsequent acceptance, framing the horror as something hauntingly beautiful.”
