When John Russell created his project GNAWING, he wanted to dial it back a little and write something closer to what was so influential to him as a young punk. Something reminiscent of the Lemonheads and Dinosaur Jr with the spacious song writing and guitar worship. He also wanted to emotionally channel bands like Jawbreaker, where the lyrics are so vivid and instantly relatable.

This short record is a jump through the second half of last year, which was sort of action packed for me. I transitioned out of and away from a lot of the constants in my life while also falling out of and back into love. Y’know classic sad songwriting topics.
