Des Moines, Iowa-based band Greg Wheeler And The Poly Mall Cops has returned with a new album, entitled Slimephone Surveillance, available now on vinyl and streaming via High Dive Records. The new eleven-track outing follows the template outlined on the trio’s 2023 debut, Manic Fever, while turning up the heat with their biggest and boldest arrangements yet.

Slimephone Surveillance was announced last month with the single and video “Slimephone (You Can’t Hide)”. This track introduced one of the key themes that draws Wheeler’s ire in this latest Poly Mall Cops collection – the toxic allure of technology and the autonomy humans are willing to give up for a sense of digital connection. Elsewhere the devolving social, political and environmental climates are explored in treatises that reflect the mental toll of a world where good news seems hard to come by.
