Heavy Dose Premieres Music Video for “Janie”

Today, we are so excited to be bringing you a brand new single and an accompanying music video from NYC-based rock band Heavy Dose. The song it titled “Janie” and it’s about letting your romantic partner down so many times that you begin to produce serious doubts about the strength of the relationship. The lyrics are blunt; they both explain away a relationship’s recurring emotional turbulence, as well as express gratitude that the other party seems to forgive your transgressions.

Heavy Dose formed in early 2024 when Rob (guitar/vocals) turned to Craigslist to find members for a new guttural, punk band, channeling hard-hitting acts like Hot Snakes and The Bronx. After recruiting Andrew (drums) and Freddie (bass) to realize this idea, they just needed a badass singer … but no one could wait for that to happen. Armed with a set of new, indie-rock-inspired riffs, Rob shelved his punk demos and Heavy Dose was born!

“Janie” will be featured, along with six other tracks, on Heavy Dose’s debut EP, Contort In Shapes. The album follows the story of coping with the end of a long-term romantic partnership. While Heavy Dose is not necessarily breaking new ground on the ‘breakup album’ concept, we find it to be a good emotional platform on which to shamelessly and cathartically headbang to crunchy guitar riffs. The EP was produced by Brian DiMeglio (Bartees Strange, Stay Inside, Superbloom) and mastered by Jesse Cannon (Misfits, NOFX, The Cure).
