We’re premiering a new single from LEWIS, the emerging Los Angeles-based band led by Christopher Lewis (formerly of The Kinison). The new track, entitled “I’m Not Cursed” be be featured on the band’s upcoming album, Growing Pains, which will be released on October 20th.
Lead singer Christopher Lewis stated:
“I wrote ‘I’m Not Cursed’ after I felt someone had cast a spell on me. You know the feeling, every stop light is red, you lock your keys in the car, your refrigerator leaks — you begin thinking, “who the hell cursed me?” I added a dash of humor at the end of the chorus by saying, ‘oh no, again,’ as if me being cursed is a common occurrence. Also, using the words, ‘lickity-split’ in a song made me laugh.”
Guitarist Paul Fig added:
“Out of all of Christopher’s demos for Growing Pains (acoustic guitar and vocal) this one had a completely different flavor. The demo instantly made my top 10 list as contenders for the record. Chris had this 60’s groove that I wanted to make sure stayed intact when we fleshed it out in the studio. Lyrically one of Christopher’s best, driving towards an overly catchy chorus into a comic twist, which I found myself connecting too, like Murphys Law, ‘Anything that can go wrong, will go wrong’ Sticking to the ‘groove,’ and creating the guitar flavors with a garage rock vibe, made this song one of the most fun to track.”
