Philadelphia-based Emo band Longfriend Timefriend has released a new single today entitled “No Relief.” The song harnesses the feeling of hanging out in a South Philly basement and yelling along to fast songs with your best friends.
Amongst clanging guitars, gang vocals and a wall of toms, the new single captures the feeling of being abandoned by your government in a crisis. It’s about how disability and queerness make the reality of the conditions we live under even harsher — how waiting without really anything to wait for steadily takes its toll.
Band member Em McMahon had the following to say about the new track:
“More than anything, we hope that ‘No Relief’ provides folks with catharsis, a feeling of community, and an opportunity to sing along.”
