We’re premiering a brand new single from Boston-based emo pop band MK Naomi. Named for the covert CIA bioweapons program that ran from the 1950s-’70s, the quartet’s effervescent riffs and ’90s-washed hooks glow in the dark. Simply, the band says they’re FFO the Ten Things I Hate About You soundtrack, and who doesn’t love that, amirite?
The new single, “Soft Swerve,” will be featured on the band’s debut EP entitled Dream Hiss which will be released on June 20th via Sweet Cheetah Records.
Bassist/Vocalist Andrea Neuenfeldt shared the following about the new single:
“‘Soft Swerve’ is about the ‘death by a thousand cuts’ that is living under capitalism. Nothing can come in the way of industrial and economic growth – from encroaching on ecosystems to the manufactured consent of the genocide in Gaza. We are numbed by our involuntary participation. The only way to combat that is by unlearning the structures that perpetuate imperialism and realizing how interconnected we are to each other.”
