Today, we’re so very excited to be premiering the music video for a brand new single from Salt Lake City-based NADEZHDA. The up-and-coming hard grunge band’s latest single is “Busy Being Bored,” a musical heat-seeking missile.
The band’s vocalist, Brighton Ballard, shared the following:
“BUSY started with a swingy, punchy riff that instantly conveyed such attitude, like how it feels to realize you’ll never get a summer vacation again, halfway through the last one you’ll ever have. It was written out of a sort of stunted nostalgia, and is a thin critique of the way we waste time in small intervals of thinking we have enough of it.”
The band’s third music video depicts life through the chaos of youth, clashing with the real world. Stryder Syme debuts as a young delinquent without a care in the world (besides passing his driver’s test), only taking breaks between bouts of petty crime to hit the skatepark. Devrie Bracken and Redd Anderson play supporting roles, with Nadezhda’s five band members making cameo appearances.
Directed by Rylee Syme, with cinematography by Alek Sabin, and edited by Brighton Ballard, “Busy Being Bored” sits firmly in the same cinematic universe as the Smashing Pumpkins’ “1979,” Fontaines DC’s “Starburster,” and Every Time I Die’s “Map Change.”
