Palm Ghosts Releases Ned’s Atomic Dustbin Cover “Grey Cell Green”

Nashville, TN-based New Wave and Post-Punk band Palm Ghosts has released a new single, a cover song of Ned’s Atomic Dustbin classic “Grey Cell Green” on Bandcamp. Better yet, 100% of the proceeds raised from the song’s sale go to benefit the Be The Big Spoon charity. The song was recorded and mixed by the band and mastered by Dan Coutant (of the band Spoils System) at Sun Room Mastering.

Ben Douglas of the band had the following to say about the cover release:

“‘Grey Cell Green’ is an early alternative anthem that harkens back to MTVs 120 minutes era. Ned’s were an important band to us and we felt like they haven’t been covered enough. We decided to donate the proceeds to Be The Big Spoon to help people with a wide range of disabilities. They’ll receive stabilizing spoons to help them live more independently.”

According to Be The Big Spoon:

“My mission is simple. If this device will improve your quality of life, you should have one, no matter your ability to afford one. As a man born with Cerebral Palsy, I know firsthand that life with a disability comes with added struggles and expenses. Also, as a guy who is so completely comfortable with having CP that I go by the nickname of ‘Shakes,’ I can say that the first time to use this spoon was a life changing moment. I can’t imagine how it would affect someone who isn’t as comfortable with their own disability!

These spoons, with accessories, cost around $300-$350, depending on the particular disability and spoon handle needed. Items like these are not covered by Medicare, Medicaid or, majority of private insurance. Therefore, I search out people who would benefit from this technology and simply give them one, along with the available accessories.”

Stream the cover song below and check out the band when they’re on tour in April and May!
