Kendra Sheetz Vancouver, BC-based band Phuture Memoriez has released their latest full-length LP The Greatest Jockey of All Time via Nerve Wracking Collections. The noise-pop band’s newest album is a concept record about a legendary horse racing jockey so committed to greatness that he trained his horse to ride him. Determined to rewrite the sport, he ran the course with the horse on his back — winning the race and cementing his fate as the greatest jockey of all time. Aiming for a triumphant and hypnotic listening experience, the band leaned into bouncing arpeggiators, rich bass hooks, and breathy sax/guitar-synth melodies to channel the spirit of absurd heroism.
Phuture Memoriez’ sound transitions constantly — not surprising given their deep love of experimentation, using tools like the Akai MPC Live, Roland GR-20 Guitar Synth, digital and analog synths, pedals, and noisemakers, alongside otherworldly vocal effects.
