Strange Neighbors, a power pop band based in New York City, has released a new track entitled “Quiet Beat.” The band actually recorded the song for a film Lost Horizons, which is a biopic about Doug Hopkins written and directed by his friend and Tempe music scene contemporary Brian Smith (Gentlemen Afterdark). Doug was bandmember Dana’s uncle.
The film was adapted from Brian’s 2007 article “Jesus of Suburbia,” and will document Doug’s life and feature many of his earlier songs, including some that were never published. “Quiet Beat” was a song played by Alphabet Ranch, one of Doug’s early bands, and the incubator of many well known Gin Blossoms tracks, but was never published.
Listen to “Quiet Beat” below and keep checking back for more from Strange Neighbors!
