Sucker Punch, a band with ties to the New Jersey and Philly DIY Punk scenes, has released a new single off their soon-to-be-released EP, Hope Like Hell. The new track is entitled “Trip McNeely” and references the washed-up college freshman in the coming of age 90s cult classic Can’t Hardly Wait.
The band had the following to say about the new single:
“At one point in everyone’s life, they realize that some of their friends aren’t who they say they are. This song is an FU to those “friends” who say they love and support you, but in reality, just hurl empty words and praise and would enjoy seeing you fall. You will succeed with or without them and this song is a reminder to hold your true friends close, and to weed out the toxic people in your life.”
