Boston’s The Amplifier Heads has released a new single entitled “They Came To Rock” today via Rum Bar Records. Featuring soul dynamo Barrence Whitfield on vocals, this pummeling new single from Sal Baglio’s band is the title track to the forthcoming album Songs From They Came To Rock (April 5), the official soundtrack for Executive Producer Norty Cohen’s immersive rock opera.
Debuting in Nashville three years ago, They Came To Rock connects aliens landing on Earth with the birth of rock and roll. On this single, the pair of longtime Boston music scene veterans come together for a fiery and attention-grabbing rager, and we hope you consider it for editorial coverage around its release.
Sal Baglio had the following to say about the new release:
“Songs From They Came To Rock is a soundtrack record and I felt that it should have different voices besides my own for various tracks. Barrence Whitfield was the only artist I thought of for singing the title track. Barrence is a brilliant instinctual artist and his interpretation of the song kicked it up and out of this stratosphere.”
