Today, we’re bringing you the debut album from Chattanooga, TN’s The Cle Elum. The long-in-the-making full-length album, entitled It’s Ok If It Falls Apart, will be released this Friday, August 16, 2024 on independent label, Winston Sounds. It features guest vocals from Matthew Caws of Nada Surf and Josh Caterer of The Smoking Popes.
The Chattanooga, Tenessee-based couple – both starting out as drummers – first met in 2011. At that time, Ian Lee had logged an extensive history with rock and punk acts including Bad Oskar, Woolworthy, Not Rebecca, Tom Daily, Electric Airlines (with Ed Roser from Urge Overkill), Kevin Lee (with Jon Brant from Cheap Trick), Goodbye Satellite, Anita and Led Zeppelin 2. Sarah Sargent Pepper had also spent a good number of years behind the kit and behind the scenes as a tour manager and merchandising pro. The Cle Elum when the pandemic shut down the music industry. The result is a rich collection of songs with Sargent Pepper on drums and Lee on vocals, guitars, and keys.
Lee shared:
“We are excited to finally release our debut album tomorrow, It’s OK If It Falls Apart. The process of writing, recording and now finally releasing ALL of these songs feels right. We love every song on this album and we hope you do too. We can’t wait to tell you the stories of each one. We can’t wait for you to find new favorites. We pressed a batch of these as an excuse to hang out with people in record stores, so come out to our release show on August 31st at YellowRacket Records in Chattanooga, Tennessee. A fine establishment run by fine people!”
