On the back of their self-titled debut album, Connecticut-based indie art-rock band The Pretty Graves is in the process of figuring out what comes next. This process is creative and messy. But before any sophomore effort comes fruition, the band decided to clear out the vault.

Sitting on a lively batch of unreleased indie, psych, and power-pop songs, the band has announced the release of Tapes & Demos via cassette and digital on Friday October 30 via L’Appel Du Vide Des Disques and New London’s Telegraph Autonomous Zone. The collection consists of ten tracks left over the foursome’s heralded May debut. B-sides, unfinished demos, and live favorites, this album has it all.

The band has released a new single off the comp, a wrecking ball of bluesy rock and roll called “Bluebird.” Frontman Christopher M. Listorti shared the following about the new song:

“‘Bluebird’ is about an encounter I had with a bluebird that lived outside on my porch. I would bump into him while out on my porch, day or night. This encounter entwined with what I was going through at the time without going into great detail. The bluebird can symbolize happiness, hope, and being grounded, which the dude on my porch inspired for me.”
