The Shouldabeens Streams New EP

The songwriting duo from early 2000’s Michigan punk rock and roll staple, South Bay Bessie, is back with a new project – The Shouldabeens! Jason Kotarski (Singing Lungs) and Louis Ramsey (Corporate Citizen) reconnected across the country from Michigan to California to write and record a new batch of pop punk/power pop tunes with big guitars and vocal hooks.

The obstacle of distance was overcome by remote recording skills learned out of necessity during the pandemic for the purpose of recording demos for the duo’s current projects. The possibilities provided by the internet and iPhone recording software was enough of a spark to rekindle a songwriting partnership lost to time and space.

Writing songs about friendship, horror movies, and detective noir, Jason and Louis revisited familiar territory from their days in South Bay Bessie. These new songs feel like a new beginning but also a continuation. The Shouldabeens are an exploration of what could have been had time and space not separated two old friends for so long.

Stream The Return of The Shouldabeens below and keep checking back because the album will be available on CD and cassette soon via Questionable Mono Tapes and Stuff.
