The Tampa, FL-based party punks in Too Many Daves are back with a new single that we can – at least at surface level – all relate to. “Can’t Afford to Party” was written as a testament to the struggle of the oppressed ne’er-do-well. It’s an ode to the low-effort lifestyle, tailored for anyone whose dream of scraping by on minimum wage was obliterated by relentless inflation and elite greed.
It’s a swan song to $5 Hot n’ Ready pizzas, your favorite fast food dollar menu, and fifty cent wings. A time when people held bountiful pot luck dinners where you show up without a dish. It mourns an era when you could crash a potluck empty-handed and still eat like a king, or ride $5 “sink or swim” well drinks straight to last call. It’s a eulogy for that cozy, dive-bar purgatory where everybody knows your name… even if they can’t stand you.
The song was written by the band, of course! It was recorded, mixed, and mastered by Ryan
Boesch at Candor Studio in Tampa, FL in September 2024, and February 2026.
