Today, we’re premiering a new single from Bay Area veterans Victims Family. The band has teamed up with PDX heavyweights Nasalrod and will be releasing a split 12″ LP together, entitled In the Modern Meatspace, via Nadine Records on March 22nd. Both bands offer 5 twisted, technical, and topical songs each which somehow manage to display a healthy dose of humor while tackling subjects such as mass shootings, police brutality, religious manipulation, impermanence, and the impending apocalypse.
The new single is entitled “First Person Shooter.” Victims Family singer/guitarist Ralph Spight had the following to say about the song:
“The music for ‘First Person Shooter’ was a piece I’d had for a long time waiting for a lyrical idea. I scrawled down the lyrics a day or so after the racist shooting at the Tops Supermarket in Buffalo in 2022. I was just so outraged and upset at what we’ve become in this country and my usual tongue in cheek satire wasn’t going to be enough, I wanted to address the problem directly. A song I wish I didn’t have to write.”
