Bad Copy

Toronto, ONT’s AloneKitty has released a new single entitled “I’m Wide Awake.” The song is featured on the band’s upcoming album, wide awake, out November 6th via Mint 400 Records. The single is a sign of what’s coming for the band.

Band member Michelle K lost both of her parents while making the band’s new record.

“No one is there to save me anymore. As adults we still, in some quiet way, think of our parents as the people behind us if everything falls apart. Suddenly that backstop was gone.”

AloneKitty self-produced wide awake with engineer Darren McGill and Michael Flynn, but the sessions were built around trust rather than perfection. Bassist Michael Small and drummer Stefan Loebus weren’t simply hired musicians; they became collaborators, pushing for additional takes whenever they felt they could do better.

Michelle states ‘once you’ve lived through the worst, perfection starts to matter a little less than honesty’ So the band played take after take and let whatever showed up in the room be the thing that came out of it. Just true to the moment when it was created.
