Build A Rocket Premieres Music Video for “Last Call”

Today, we are exciting to be bringing you a new music video from Build a Rocket out of Rio Vista, CA. The single, entitled “Last Call,” is about getting your drinking card pulled and the process of having to figure out how to exist in the same spaces with the same people. You still show up and see the same stools, same faces, and same low light. But you’re just not drinking anymore, and you’re trying to figure out how to not lose those previous connections.

The video was shot at Mei Wah Beer Room in Isleton, a turn of the century opium den turned brothel turned Delta bar, which also just happens to be where band members Jen Carlson and Jason Taylor met. They started talking music. Someone pulled a guitar off the wall. A sing-along started. And by the end of the night, they had a band.

The video for “Last Call” was filmed by the Salty Birds — Carlson, Taylor, and filmmaker Adam Maggard — three people with a shared instinct for leaving well enough alone. It features Matt Burt and the debut appearance of Rocky Clementine (Carlson’s dog!). The song is also featured on the Doll Fest 2 compilation album, as the band just played the Bay Area festival last month.

Build A Rocket will be hosting a free, all ages event this evening in Isleton at the place where it all started, Mei Wah Beer Room. The video will be premiered along with acoustic sets from Canadian singer-songwriter Seth Anderson and, of course, Build A Rocket.
