Today, we’re so excited to be bringing you a brand new single, entitled “The Easy Way,” and an accompanying music video from Chicago’s Chicken Happen. The new song will be featured on the band’s upcoming album, Chicken Happen IV, which will be released on November 10th.
Lilly Choi, who grew up playing classical piano, is a triple threat taking on the roles of lead singer, keyboardist, and guitarist. Zack Hjelmstad (bass) and Mark Gianforte (drums) round out the power pop trio. The new album features guest vocals and guitar from longtime friend Chris Sutter (Meat Wave, Truman & His Trophy), who also produced the record. Chicken Happen IV was recorded by Joe Gac at Kildare Studios in Chicago.
Lilly added:
“This album has been all about collaboration and exploration. It was a grandiose idea to write an entire album of piano songs, but we were in the right place at the right time and the songs kind of wrote themselves. I was in a deeply self-contemplative place when writing these songs and I really wanted to break free from all expectations I felt from others and myself. These songs draw a lot of inspiration from R&B and are some of the most vulnerable songs I’ve ever written.”
