Cigar Cigarette Releases Music Video for “Probes”

Cigar Cigarette, the experimental electronic solo project of Los Angeles-based artist and producer Chris McLaughlin, all started as “some bizarre, Dadaist lyric.” On the forthcoming EP, entitled Natural History, which will be released on June 7th via Trash Casual Records, he expands his cosmic sonic terrain and rich, transformative sound while maintaining his gritty, art punk flourishes.

On the new single, “Probes,” R&B purrs, bolstered by contributing vocals from the Dirty Projectors’ Angel Deradoorian, float atop layers of interplanetary Moog mud.

On the song, McLaughlin offers:

“I wrote the lyrics to Probes after waking up from a nightmare, but I suppose it sounds like a love song. Angel Deradoorian (Deradoorian, Dirty Projectors, Decisive Pink), sang where the song crescendos one afternoon in Greenpoint, Brooklyn. I had been living with the music for a while, but nothing was working lyrically until I realized it needed to be two songs at the same time.”
