Virginia-based Rock trio Dead Billionaires has released a new single, “Straight Shooter,” along with an accompanying music video. This is the second single to be released off the band’s upcoming seven track LP, Disaster Preparedness Coloring Book, which will be released on June 2nd via Possum Lick Farms Records.
Diving into this party-through-the-apocalypse theme, the “Straight Shooter” video follows singer/guitarist Warren Campbell battling through a sick day to make sure a show happens. Ironically, the initial concept, of the video culminating with a show at a local venue, had to be revised into a house show ad hoc when the venue owner canceled the show due to staff sickness.
Campbell had the following to say about the release:
“Sometimes when you’re sick or depressed, you’ll do things that aren’t going to help you get better. You’ll indulge in junk foods and alcohol, stay up too late, pretend everything is fine. We’ve traded rest for consumption, actual health for a short term image of youth. We’re dissatisfied and are numbing it with whatever we can consume. It’s also global; climate change has impacted so many in very tangible ways, but no solution is in sight because collectively we can’t garner the willpower to address it. It’s easier to sit at home and watch television and forget.”
