Kendra Sheetz For once, the algorithm didn’t do me dirty. A few months ago, I was offered up an IG reel featuring Johnny Whitney (of Blood Brothers fame) who announced that there was a new band on the horizon, Evil Island. I followed the account immediately. Since then, Instagram has been feeding me reel after reel of updates along with short snippets of the band’s debut single, “Tiger Baby.”
The band features Blood Brothers members Johnny Whitney (vocals), Cody Votolato (guitar/vocals) bassist Autry Fulbright (OFF!, ex-…And You Will Know Us By The Trail Of Dead), and Mark Gajadhar (drums).
Vocalist Whitney share the following:
“We chose ‘Tiger Baby’ for the first single from our new record because it’s kind of like the everything bagel of songs from the session. It’s heavy and crazy and chaotic but also very catchy and hooky which is very much what the entire record sounds like all baked into one song.”
Ross Robinson not only produced the new track but also signed the group to his label, Blowed Out Records, which is co-run with Ghostemane and Bill Armstrong.
