Memphis-based alt rockers Joybomb have released a new single entitled “Everything is Drugs” along with an accompanying music video. The song is the third single from the band released in 2025, with plenty more planned for this year. “Everything is Drugs” takes a bad trip into the American penchant for insatiability.
Frontman Grant Beatty explains:
“God, guns, & country—drugs. Social confirmation bias, rage-baiting, MAGA, and those hearts on your Instagram story? All intoxicants. Our attention spans are whittled down to brief moments marked by dopamine pursuit and re-uptake as we chase tailor-made highs. And everyone’s in line for the goods.”
For the video itself, videographer and regular collaborator Quinton Hickman delivers a visual rendering produced entirely with a flatbed scanner, capturing everyday objects and household spaces as stand-ins for the song’s themes.
“Some scans were carefully staged, while others were left to the scanner’s natural glitches. That mix of control and distortion produced the warped, jittery look throughout the piece. As objects were scanned again and again, they stretched and broke apart—the repetitive process mirroring the addictive cycles at the core of the song.”
