Grand Rapids, MI’s Laddermatch has released a brand new music video for their song “Drive.” In tandem, the band has also released their debut album entitled A Tired Sleep Won’t Fix today through Setterwind Records.
The video was directed by Lexi Couture and filmed in Sydney, Michigan at an abandoned barn theater on a college campus during summer of ‘23 in the midst of a tornado warning. It touches on someone who feels as though they need to put a face on around others to feel themselves but when left to their own thoughts breaks down. The makeup the band members are wearing are symbolic in the sense of someone putting a face on around others but when the character is isolated they slowly start to have a breakdown. The theater setting is important as the song is a “show” for the listener and the singer is talking directly to their audience, much like one would on stage.
