NADEZHDA Releases Music Video for New Single “Parasite”

Earlier this month, Salt Lake City-based NADEZHDA released a new single entitled “Parasite.” Following the 2024 release of their inaugural EP Battery, “Parasite” is a driving, emotional appeal to a loved one, caught in the grip of a relationship that’s slowly draining their vibrancy.

Vocalist Brighton Ballard shared the following about the new release:

“The lyrics for ‘Parasite’ came mostly out of frustration. We’ve watched multiple close people in our lives continue to be pulled back into bad, detrimental relationships, sometimes even seeming like they’re just about to get out of it for good, before the parasite adapts and digs in yet again. You feel angry watching this happen to someone you love, but you know there’s very little you can do, until they’re hopefully able to strive for the better life they deserve.”

The band has also released an accompanying music video for “Parasite” which was cut together from decades of archival footage, including home movies from several families, juxtaposed against instructional videos of parasites, bacteria, and cancerous cells. Additional custom grain overlays and illustrated parasites feature throughout. The video was edited by Brighton Ballard and additional animation was contributed by Cory Davis.
