Pansy, a new solo project by the Chicago-based artist Vivian McCall, has released their first single entitled “Woman of Ur Dreams.” Up until earlier this month, Viv played and recorded in Jungle Green and has since decided to double down on her own music.
Her entire self-titled debut album, which will be released with the label Earth Libraries on March 19th, is a Lo-Fi Tock documentation of Viv’s experiences before, during, and after beginning her transition. These songs were written in the difficult year after beginning her transition, but “Woman of Ur Dreamz” is a song that celebrates herself and about love (including love for oneself).
Viv had the following to add about the new album:
“It’s difficult for anybody to inhabit a body. People in the trans community will hear themselves, but anyone who’s ever gone through a radical change in their lives will recognize these feelings too.”
