Ontario’s The Discarded has released a brand new single and an accompanying music video for ‘Testify!” The song will be featured on the band’s upcoming full-length album, The Green Door, which will be released on November 25th. The father-and-sons trio delivers raw, garage rock with a punk edge. 

The song evolved when bassist Jared introduced a fresh, vibrant bassline during live performances, diverging from the original recording. Inspired by this new energy, the band re-recorded the track to capture the heightened intensity. Guitarist Michael McKenzie contributed intricate riffs that mesh with Jared’s bass, adding a groove reminiscent of the ‘60s “Day Tripper” vibe, while Carmen Toth’s background vocals give the track a full, resonant quality.

The Green Door highlights The Discarded’s evolving sound, merging the grit of garage rock with the punch of punk and elements of classic rock. The album was produced by John Critchley, whose work with artists like Elliott BROOD and Dan Mangan adds a polished yet vibrant feel to the record. Recorded at Green Door Studios, it embodies a powerful fusion of garage rock, old-school punk, metal, and ’60s/’70s rock influences.

Formed in 2016 in Orangeville, Ontario, The Discarded quickly made a name for themselves in the Canadian rock scene. The band features veteran rocker JP Wasson on guitar and vocals, alongside his sons, Caden Jax Wasson on drums and Jared Dean Wasson on bass. Recently joined by Ben Keestra on guitar, The Discarded blends punk rock roots with a youthful energy that creates a powerhouse sound. The Discarded have played nearly 100 live shows, sharing stages with legends like The Sonics, Teenage Head, and The Forgotten Rebels.
