The Chicago power-pop-punk veterans Woolworthy are marking a major milestone: the 30th anniversary of their 1995 self-titled debut. To celebrate, the band has released a brand-new lyric video for “Moped Song,” a long-standing fan favorite freshly re-recorded for their current EP Fall With You, which is out now via Boss Tuneage Records. The new EP features four new tracks and is the follow up to their 2023 comeback LP, Electric Heartbreak.
“Moped Song” has become a defining track from the band’s formative years in the mid-’90s and has remained a staple of their live shows for decades. The line “Hop on the back” quickly became an unofficial mantra for the band — the ride-or-die spirit that carried Woolworthy through basement shows, Midwest tours, and their evolution as one of Chicago’s best power-pop-punk bands.
To honor the song’s enduring place in their history, Woolworthy returned to the studio to give it new life, teaming up with Chicago recording legend Mike Hagler (Mekons, Wilco) at Kingsize.
They shared the following:
“This song is one that people always ask about, so we thought we’d bring it back with fresh energy. Re-recording it this year with Mike Hagler for our EP felt like the perfect way to mark its 30th anniversary.”
