Billie Marten and Nùria Graham put on an intimate indie folk performance at High Noon Saloon on the second-to-last stop of their tour. Both artists spoke so fondly of Madison, with Núria spending time with friends and visiting Tornado Steak House, and Billie returning for her second Madison show of the year. It was so cool seeing the venue as full as it was with fans showing them the same appreciation the artists did.
Nùria started off the show and immediately drew the crowd in. With never hearing her work before I was very excited to experience it firsthand. Her vocal delivery with her songs is outstanding and it really added heart to her music. I love how perfectly her performance complimented Billie’s and was the perfect start to the night.
Billie then took the stage. She was accompanied by Katie Martucci on bass and Andrew McGuire on the drums, together the three of them performed Billie’s music beautifully. Her songs “Crown” and “Vanilla Baby” are staples and seemed to be the crowd favorites! Within seconds of starting the crowd applauded and began singing along. With just a few songs left Billie invited Núria back out and shared how closely they worked together on her newest album Dog Eared, “intertwined” is how she described their creative processes. With snow falling outside, the cozy atmosphere inside the venue perfectly matched the quiet beauty of the performances.
