Fest Up Fest is Chicago’s annual all ages Queercore Fest. The festival and the bands that play it are “dedicated to elevating the visibility of queer, trans, gender non-conforming, and intersex people in punk and hardcore scenes. It encompasses music, art, and workshops, and actively confronts and challenges the perpetuation of oppression and abuse in these scenes.” This year the fest will be taking place over the weekend of July 29th-30th. However, we were lucky enough to get an early taste of the fest and watch some amazing bands on June 9th as Fed Up Fest took over Dimo’s Pizza in Chicago’s Wicker Park neighborhood.
