I had been looking forward to shooting for Flipturn for about a month now. I had no idea my night was going to be filled with pleasant surprises and an even more amazing opportunity. I received a special message about three hours before the event. The message was from the headlining band, Flipturn. Their band manager reached out to ask if I could shoot from the stage for the night. Naturally, I was in shock and so very excited to capture the event. I’ve only shot from backstage one other time and it was so much fun. I was also introduced to the band members and they’re all such nice human beings.
The opening band is a indie-folk/rock band from Washington. The band consists of four lifelong friends and their chemistry on stage definitely demonstrated that. I had also been very excited to see Richy Mitch & The Coal Miners. When I saw they were opening I had to get a photo pass for the show. The band then entered the room and the crowd filled with excitement. The entire set was very calming and full of immaculate vibes. They were a perfect introduction for the night.
After the opener, I waited backstage with eagerness for what would come next. As I was waiting, I witnessed the band members huddle in a circle and hype each other up for their show. I then opened the door and they followed after me. I watched them walk onto the stage and the crowd immediately began to cheer. The band was very energetic and put on an amazing show. Near the end of the set, the band member Mitch, had a birthday celebration onstage. The band manager lit a cake and brought it out to Mitch and his girlfriend. The whole room sang “Happy Birthday” with contagious happiness.
Here are the photos I took!
