I can’t remember exactly what year it was, 1987, 1988? Doesn’t really matter. It was before most of you were born… and if you were born, I’m 99% sure you weren’t at this show. I say 99% and not 100% because there’s a tiny possibility that the lead singer Chemical Warfare, from Anarchy 6, might read this. The show was at the Anti-Cub on Melrose Avenue in Hollywood, California. There was a screening of Lovedolls Superstar (it’s actually available to watch on Amazon as this is being written – add an apostrophe between “l” and “s” in Lovedolls even though it’s not spelled with one in the title) followed by live performances from Anarchy 6 and The Lovedolls. I didn’t see too many shows at the Anti-Club but I would go down to Melrose like many of the other punks in the 80’s. I’d hit all the regular spots – Vinyl Fetish, Retail Slut, Poseur, Rene’s All Ears, etc. You kids don’t know how easy you have it with the internet and all. Shit, I’m getting off topic from the show… but…
If you’ve read any of my reviews before, you already know that you won’t learn anything about the show that I’m reviewing. Since you already know that you should already realize that you won’t be learning anything about the show that I’m writing about instead of the show that I’m supposed to be writing about either. You probably don’t realize it but I’m kind of taking you round and round on this circle where I keep going back to the same subject yet you don’t even know what it is. It all seems to work in my head but then I try to explain what I’m writing about and I know it won’t make any sense to anyone but myself.
So in conclusion, Lovedolls Superstar, Poseur, and Anarchy 6 have brought me to being at Melvins and Jon Spencer at Park West in Chicago on July 31, 2018. Get it? Probably not…
