The day began with light snow and a chilly breeze as I packed up my car, the perfect start to a great night. I was especially excited to capture a great show with two very talented bands. I made my way to the stage as the first band prepared to take the spotlight, and the crowd eagerly gathered around.
The first act, Chai Teeth, is a emo/alternative band from Rockford, IL. Their mission is rooted in storytelling, self-reclamation, and energetic shows– and it shines through in both their music and presence. I have worked with them many times, and I was excited to see them perform again. As they took the stage, the crowd grew with excitement, and the lead vocalist greeted everyone with a huge smile. Cheers filled the air, and the band waisted no time jumping into their jam packed set. Fans were dancing, singing, and sharing in a communal release of energy. Their set was raw, interactive, and a powerful start to the night.
The main act of the night is The Rumours, a rock band from Waterloo, IA. They are known for their electrifying performances, and their classic punk vibe. By the time they took the stage, the venue was packed with fans. The band entered the room with great enthusiasm, they greeted everyone in the room, then began performing. Throughout the set, they maintained an interactive relationship with the crowd, they also fell into backbends as they shredded their instruments. The crowd fed off their vibe, moshing and shouting along in perfect unison. The band’s stage presence was electric, and their connection with the crowd was undeniable.
The night was full of fantastic memories, and capturing every moment was very exhilarating. Check out my photos below:
