Tina Turner‘s solo career really took off in 1984 with her breakout smash Private Dancer, but that wasn’t her first without her ex-husband Ike Turner and it wouldn’t be her last. She retired from performing in 2009 at the end of her Tina!: 50th Anniversary Tour and was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame twice, once in 1991 as part of the Ike & Tina Turner Revue and in 2021 as a solo artist (and those are just two of her numerous accolades). Tina Turner passed away on May 24, 2023, at the age of 83.
