Kendra Sheetz I love when a band or artist squeezes out an epic album or great song in December, upsetting already published End of the Year lists all over the globe.
Today’s release by Mertles Acres is no exception. The Milwaukee-based band snuck a new single out into the world today via Bandcamp and, as the kids say, it’s a certified banger. I also may have gotten some inside intel that the song came about after one of the band members began deconstructing Kesha’s hit “Die Young.” As a huge Kesha fan who has probably heard her single somewhere around 10,000 times, I can totally hear it. But “This Fires Burnin’” is a song all its own.
