We’re stoked to be bringing you another premiere from Cleveland’s Stalemate. In April, we shared the band’s music video for their song “Bummer City” off their upcoming album, The Heat of the Sun. The full-length album will officially be released on Friday, June 7th via Head2Wall Records. But you can listen to all NUMBER tracks today!
The band had the following to say about the new release:
“When writing began for this new record, a theme quickly began to take shape. The Heat of the Sun focuses much of its lyrical content on a reflection of the past and how it shapes the realities of continuously moving forward. It draws from feelings of helplessness and hopelessness, but a strong yearning to make an attempt to deal with those issues in a positive way. The inevitability of growing old is constantly present and making a conscious effort to tackle the challenge with grace.
As I was writing for the album I was listening heavily to Brian Wilson and The Beach Boys. Much of the album takes its cues from this influence and various interviews Wilson gave relating to some of these concepts. Themes that standout most are typically drawing from every day responsibilities that come with jobs, families, and social interactions.
Our past records would have a tendency to stray with theme, but this one was very much set in stone from the beginning. I feel it captures exactly what was intended at the start.”
