Today, Cambridge-based ukulele indie-pop project Travels With Brindle has released their debut album, Notes From Undergrad. The album is filled with literary tie-ins, as Notes From Undergrad is inspired by Elif Batuman’s 2017 novel The Idiot.
With a backdrop of Harvard Square, Notes From Undergrad draws from a loose thematic idea of college rock, from indie-pop to jangly power-pop, and lyrically centers on power dynamics.
Chelsea Spear, the brain behind the project, had the following to say about her aspirations:
“I want to be your high school English teacher’s third or fourth favorite artist.”
