We’re premiering a new music video from San Francisco-based five piece TREASVRE. The single is called “Run Away” and it’s featured on the band’s upcoming release, Stick the Knife In, out digitally April 8th. The album was recorded and mixed by Jesse Nichols at Atomic Garden West in Oakland, California and mastered by Adrian Morgan at Timeless Mastering in Brooklyn, New York.

The band had the following to say about the new release:

“’Run Away’ is about encountering someone dangerous and untrustworthy who desperately wants to win you over. We leaned into our electronic influences and experimented with different vocal stylings on this song to create a moody, brooding vibe that reflects the emotional experience of being repeatedly lied to by someone you wanted to trust. The song’s lyrics describe how a web of lies may paint a rosy picture, but simply pull at the threads and it will all start to unravel. It’s a warning to be careful who you trust, because there are people in this world who will take advantage of your good intentions to get what they want from you.

We collaborated with Bay Area filmmaker Michael Beltrán on the music video for ‘Run Away’ and gave him complete creative control over the process. Michael decided to use an H16 Bolex Reflex camera using Kodak 500T film to create a vintage vibe and capture some dramatic low-light shots. Since each reel of film lasts for only three minutes of shooting, Michael had to be very intentional with each shot in order not to waste precious time and tape. He also experimented with different techniques like over/underexposing the film, shooting at different frame rates, and creating a burst-mode effect with still images. During the editing process, Michael overlaid various shots throughout the video to create a kaleidoscope of light and shadow that perfectly captures the disorientation and confusion of being lied to over and over. He did an amazing job of keeping the production simple and straightforward, while still being able to convey the complexity of the song’s emotions.”
