My Morning Jacket with BALTHVS in Madison, WI

"If we don't watch out, time will run off on us" -My Morning Jacket

The night began with excitement as I packed up my camera gear. I have been a fan of My Morning Jacket since high school, and I was especially eager to capture their set. As I arrived, the place was buzzing with passionate fans, and I hurried to the front of the stage with immense joy. I readied my camera as I waited for the first band to come on.

The opening act, BALTHVS, is a psychedelic funk trio from Bogota, Colombia. They’re known for blending funk with diverse global sounds. I had never heard of this band before, so I was eager to see what they had to offer. As the Colombian trio hit the stage, they were met with roaring applause. The bassist began playing with a huge smile across her face. With each song, the audiences energy climbed, matching the band’s tightly-woven soundscapes. I was completely mesmerized while capturing their set.

Then came the main act of the night, My Morning Jacket, an American rock band from Louisville, Kentucky. Their mission is rooted in energetic and powerful performances. They’re also known for having a completely different and unique setlist for every show. The band entered the room and immediately dove into their jam packed set. The fans along the barricade snag along passionately. I also admired the use of moody lighting that amplified the psychedelic and emotional atmosphere of the show.

Overall, both artists brought something magical and unique to the night. I had an absolute blast capturing every moment as well.
