SKA!!! Adam Davis is all about it. And with the rumblings of a 4th Wave in the air for some time now, Adam is here to tell you… IT’S ALREADY HERE! The one-time guitarist of East Bay Ska-Core band Link 80, Adam now fronts the Ska-Punk band Omnigone. Prior to starting Omnigone, he had been active in the music scene as one half of G.N.A.R.B.O.O.T.S., a band that you truly have to see to understand. A Link 80 reunion show sparked his desire to get back into the Ska world, so he and former bandmate Barry Krippene (also of Link 80 | DESA) began piecing together demos that would ultimately become the first full length from Omnigone. A chance encounter with Mike Sosinski from Bad Time Records and Kill Lincoln sparked conversations about releasing an album. The rest, as they say, is history.
Adam and Andy go back pretty far, having played shows together over the years, so it was nice to have a chance to catch up given the circumstances of the Covid-19 pandemic. The conversation includes some discussion about the Ska scene and where it’s currently headed. Adam describes some of the issues with turning a beloved band into a brand new one with a brand new sound and vibe. We discuss the benefits of keeping up with our fitness regimen. And of course, Adam gives me some of his favorite new bands and his Top 5 Desert Island albums.
