It’s almost that time of year again, where thousands upon thousands of black t-shirt and jorts wearing music fans will descend upon Gainesville, FL in hopes of seeing their favorite bands and drinking just enough to not remember seeing anything all. While there are hundreds of well-known names on the Fest schedule this year, we wanted to showcase a handful of the bands who are heading down to Florida and playing for the very first time. So keep reading, check out all the bands in this series, and get to know some really great under the radar talent!
Next on the roster is LA-based band Rundown Kreeps. The Chicano Punk/Ska band signed to Wiretap Records and released their latest album, RDK, earlier this year. Make sure to check them out on Friday, October 28th at The Backyard at Boca Fiesta/Palomino at 5:30PM.

Interview
How long has Rundown Kreeps been a band?
The current lineup has been together for about 4 years, but the band originally started when I was in high school about 14 years ago. Although there were periods of time where we were inactive.
Have you attended Fest before?
None of us have ever attended FEST. Although it has been something that we’ve been meaning to check out. The lineups have been consistently badass throughout the years and we’ve always wished it was closer to LA so that we could make it. Although it does feel more special to be performing and attending for the first time at once.
What are you stoked for during Fest weekend?
Definitely checking out some of the East Coast Ska bands. We’ve been introduced to so many great bands via social media and touring that we never have gotten the opportunity to see due to the miles between us. It’s going to be great to finally see bands like Catbite, Flying Raccoon Suit, The Copyrights, and Joystick just to name very few.
What’s your best Fest or touring story?
Unfortunately I don’t have a FEST story since my first time will be this year. Although I have a story about a time we traveled to Packwood Washington for a gig and got lost off road in the forest for about 3 hours with no GPS. Ended up having to navigate through dirt roads and was nearly ran off the road by an elk. We actually have a song named “Yellow Truck” off of our newest album that discusses the situation.
Let’s say you’re booking the lineup of a festival that represents you as a band. What would the top 5 headliners be?
In respects to keeping it underground-ish adjacent, I think it would be something like:
Pilfers
What does the band have coming up? What can we all look forward to from ya’ll?
Well we’re currently on our first month long headlining tour of the U.S. and we also just released our sophomore self-titled album. At this point we have our plate full, but anybody interested in what we’re doing can definitely expect more dates and music in the future
